CINCINNATI – September 30, 2014 – The final steel beam has been laid into place at The Kenwood Collection, a high-profile mixed-used office and retail development under construction along Interstate 71 in Cincinnati’s northern suburbs. A Topping Out Ceremony was held today, Tuesday, Sept. 30 to commemorate the milestone event. Total Retail Solutions, a division of Phillips Edison & Company, is developing the project. Cincinnati-based Messer Construction is the project’s general contractor.

“Today we celebrate a milestone for The Kenwood Collection, a tremendous office building fused with an upscale lifestyle center that will feature destination and national tenants that have long searched for a place in the Kenwood market,” said David Birdsall, president of Phillips Edison & Company’s Total Retail Solutions.

Adjacent to Kenwood Towne Centre, one of the country’s most successful enclosed malls, The Collection will consist of approximately 300,000 leasable square feet of upscale shopping, dining and services, over 255,000 square feet of Class A office space, and a 2,300-car fully covered parking garage. The top floor covers 32,000-square-feet. It is located in Sycamore Township, a Cincinnati suburb.

Three tenants – Neace Lukens Insurance, Unlimited Systems and PLK Communities – have signed leases for the office portion of The Collection, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2015.

Birdsall called the The Kenwood Collection “ground zero” for retail in the region drawing shoppers from as far away as Dayton, Ohio, and Lexington, Kentucky. “The Kenwood Collection is the best piece of real estate in the area,” he said. Current retail tenants include Crate & Barrel, The Container Store and Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa.

Phillips Edison & Company’s Strategic Investment Fund purchased The Kenwood Collection – formerly known as Kenwood Towne Place – in July 2012 from a bank-lending group led by Bank of America.
